By KTM Metro Reporter

May 5, 2011: the Supreme Court of Nepal is taking up the multi-million-rupee corruption case against former chief of Nepal Airlines Corporation Ramagya Prasad Chaturvedi, ‘The Himalayan Times’ reported on May 3, 2011.

Not satisfied by the verdict of the Special Court that has awarded the two-year jail term and Rs 25 million fine on Mr. Chaturvedi in 2005, the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has appealed the Supreme Court to review the case.

State attorney Krishna Poudel has sought from the apex court a severe punishment to inflict on Chaturvedi for the crime. The CIAA had accused Chaturvedi of amassing Rs 761 million abusing the power bestowed upon him. He has the income sources that show only Rs 6.1 million. The next hearing is scheduled for May 16.
