US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H DeLisi Meets With Political Leaders

April 22, 2010: United States Ambassador to Nepal Scott H DeLisi has met with the leaders of the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML. The ambassador met with chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda at the party office, parliamentary party Leader of NC Ram Chandra Poudel, and chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal.
The ambassador has found that none of the leaders trusts each other. So, he has said that there is no alternative to reaching understanding among them on completing the peace process and the writing of a new constitution for the rule of law, for respecting human rights and democracy.
He has also found that the leaders have yet to emerge as statesmen. They have been squabbling with each other over minor things whereas they have not given adequate attention to the major things.
