An End To Ending Political Deadlock

Issue 41, October 11, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 6, 2009, speaking to the reporters in Pokhara, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that the political deadlock would soon end, as they have agreed on addressing the demands of the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) at the same time not causing any embarrassment to the President. He has also said that the motion against the President registered by the UCPN-Maoist at the legislature would not be debated in the legislature at any cost.

On October 6, 2009, speaking at the function of releasing a book held at the central office of the UCPN-Maoist in Kathmandu, Chairman Prachanda has said that if the unconstitutional move of the President is not corrected, then his party would launch a real people’s movement after the second largest Hindu festival called Tihar.

The opinions publicly expressed by both Prachanda and Madhav Nepal indicate that they are ready for head-on confrontation, as none of them wants to budge even an inch from the stand each of them has taken so far. So, no matter what the Prime Minister said in Pokhara the political deadlock would continue.
