NC Lawmakers Continue To Hold House Session Hostage

Issue 31, July 31, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 27, 2011: the NC lawmakers have continued to hold the House session hostage yesterday demanding the resignation of the prime minister stating Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has lost the legitimacy to stay on in the office following the five-point deal the leaders of UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have signed off on May 28, 2011, as one of the five points of the deal says the prime minister will resign.

NC leaders have been saying that they give importance to completing the peace process and the constitution writing not to grab the power, as they are for protecting the democracy but what the NC lawmakers have been doing just the opposite. Obstructing the business of the house means they are delaying the peace process and the constitution writing and putting democracy at risk. Holding the House business hostage to meet their demand surely goes against the democratic norms and values that are so dear to them according to their words but their deeds have been for killing the democracy if they go on continuing their current activities and force the CA to die after 45 days.
