Indian Marxist Yechury Meets With Nepalese Leaders

Issue 10, March 07, 2010

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 2, 2010: Communist Party of India-Marxist Politburo Member Sitaram Yechury has met with President Dr. Ram Baran yadav at the presidential residence in Kathmandu on March 1, 2010, and also met with Prime Minister Madhav Nepal on arrival on Sunday, February 28, 2010. Mr. Yechury is going to meet with other political leaders such as UCPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and NC President Girija Prasad Koirala.

Most probably, Mr. Yechury is going to break the political deadlock that has been plaguing the Nepalese politics since the President’s unconstitutional move on directly writing a letter to the then army chief for saving his job. The current political deadlock has been deadly to the peace process and constitution writing, and might even push the country to a failed state.

Mr. Yechury played a crucial role in bringing all political leaders together in 2006 to launch a joint movement against the then despotic rulers, and might be doing the same to all those political leaders this time, too to end the political deadlock.
