Snowfall, Rainfall And Cold Weather In Nepal

February 6, 2013: after a brief sunshine from 10 to 11 am today, Kathmandu has been wet for the rest of the day. Drizzles and occasional rains have been the weather of today in Kathmandu. However, everybody anticipates good warm days after the cloudy and rainy days of the winter. These rains are part of the winter monsoon in Nepal.

Snowfall has disrupted the regular lives of the people in the hilly districts of the mid-west region including Dolpa, Humla, Jumla and Kalikot, as road traffic, air traffic and telecommunication services have come to standstill; some of the areas have snowfall as much as two feet, according to the local media.

People in Mustang and upper belt of Myagdi district have heavy snowfall today afternoon; the lower altitude areas have continuous rainfall since Monday night, according to the RSS news of today. The unfavorable weather has forced to cancel regular flights from Pokhara to Jomson, and the traffic on the Beni-Jomsom road has been severely affected.
