By KTM Metro Reporter

July 4, 2011: speaking at the function held in Pokhara on Saturday, July 2, 2011 to set up Retract Club of Pokhara-Annapurna in Pokhara, former Secretary to Ministry of Finance Rameswore Khanal has said that not only the government but the people in general need to find out why some government employees become rich overnight, ‘gorkhapatra’ of July 3, 2011 writes. He also has said that the corruption has been so endemic in the Nepalese administration because of the government employees have to do the things that are not permitted by rules and regulations. He has also complained that the ministers have treated the state employees as slaves and forced them to do things not doable by laws.

Former Secretary Khanal has quit the office refusing to follow the instruction of Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari to ease the punishment to the VAT defaulters. Reducing the punishment to the VAT defaulter means making money for the minister.
