Indian Ambassador Congratulates Chairman Of IEC Regmi

March 29, 2013: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad called on Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, and discussed contemporary political issues of the country at the Office of the Chairman of IEC at Singha Durbar yesterday. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Ambassador Prasad said that he congratulated the new government and its members on behalf of the Government of India; the Government of India was ready to provide necessary support to hold the new Constituent Assembly (CA) elections according to the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com of today.
Ambassador Prasad informed Chairman Regmi that India was for free and fair elections and wanted a lasting peace in Nepal after the promulgation of a new constitution. The ambassador also assured Chairman Regmi of India providing technical and other assistance needed for the elections.
Chairman Regmi in turn thanked the envoy for his commitment to help Nepal in holding elections and for the best wishes the diplomat has extended. Chairman Regmi said that holding elections impartially was the top priority of his government. Chairman Regmi also said that he would hold further meeting with the envoy to request for the technical support of India for the election after consultation with the EC.
