Shame On President Ram Baran Yadav

Issue 40, October 4, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter In Kathmandu

On September 28, 2009, the state-run Radio Nepal in its 7:00 AM morning news has reported that President Ram Baran Yadav in his message to the nation on the occasion of the Vijaya Dashain has said all Nepali need to follow the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 word-for-word.

Shame on you Mr. President, first you need to follow the Constitution word-for-word as you have taken the oath of safeguarding it but shamelessly violating it has made the Constitution a scrap of paper, bringing the current political deadlock. If you were a morally strong person you would have resigned from the position. You have abused your honorable and ceremonial position directly writing a letter to the Chief of Army Staff taking the advice of the unscrupulous leaders of 18-political parties. The voters have rejected most of them. So, they have no people’s mandate for anything to do; however, you simply followed their advice.

So, Mr. President, if the Constituent Assembly could not craft a new constitution on time due to the political deadlock brought by your un-ceremonial action you are solely responsible for it

Mr. President, you got upset when the letter of the Supreme Court of Nepal written to you missed to addressed you as an honorable but most of the democratic-minded people think that the Supreme Court has done right as you have failed to be a honorable and ceremonial president.
