UCPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda Meets With Chinese Officials

October 25, 2010:Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has met with Vice-Minister of International Department of Communist Party of China (CPC) Ai Ping and other Chinese officials in Shanghai on Saturday, October 23, 2010, and has discussed the matters of mutual interest and bilateral concerns between the UCPN-Maoist and the CPC during the one-hour long meeting, nepalnews.com writes.

Chairman Prachanda has admired the status of the second largest economy and an emerging global power China has achieved in the past few decades, and has also said that Nepal has a lot to learn from the China’s achievements.

Responding to Chairman Prachanda, Vice-Minister Ping has appreciated the 'one-China' policy the Government of Nepal has adopted recognizing Tibet and Taiwan as the integral parts of China, and has thanked for it. Vice-Minister Ping is an expert on Nepal, has flown to Shanghai from capital Beijing a few days ago just for the meeting with Chairman Prachanda.

Chairman Prachanda is currently in Shanghai in a four-day visit to attend the closing ceremony of the Shanghai Expo of 2010; he has also visited Nepal pavilion China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Russia and other countries’ pavilions at the Expo, online ‘The Himalayan Times’ writes quoting the state news agency RSS.
