Diarrhea Epidemic Still Uncontrollable

The Madhav administration has shown its inability to bring the diarrhea epidemic spreading in the hill regions of Western Nepal under control despite Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and Health Minister have already visited the disease inflicted areas by helicopter, as reports on the death of people by diarrhea have been coming in every day.
The Madhav administration has been repeatedly saying that it has sent prescription drugs and medics to the diarrhea-affected areas. Reports have it that medicines have been dumped at the administrative headquarters and have not reached the areas where the locals needed them the most.
On July 23, 2009, speaking to the anchor of the Radio Nepal, the Secretary to the Health Ministry has said that the government administrative network in the hills is not adequate to cope with such epidemic disease. However, the Health Ministry has been using its all resources including human to cope with the disease.
