Contract For Ration Supply To Police

Issue 46, November 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 09, 2010: Police Headquarters has issued an order to the district police offices not to make a decision on awarding the contract for supplying ration to the police, nepalnews.com writes quoting the ‘Kantipur daily’. Following the rule of law, the police need to award the contract for ration supply based on the competitive bids but the district police obviously don’t follow the rule of law and award the contract for ration supply to the contractors that give maxim benefits to the police. This has been the moneymaking business for the district police offices. So, the sincere police or the police deprived of not getting benefits and the contractors not receiving contracts complain about such irregularities in awarding contracts for supplying ration to the police.

The Police Headquarters, Ministry of Home, Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and various District Administration Offices have received several complaints from individuals and firms claiming they have been deprived of participating in the bidding process due to illegal deals between the police officers and their preferred contractors; the complainants have claimed with evidence that they could supply ration at a rate less than the rate the police have set in the contracts according to the nepalnews.com
