Fruitless Meeting Between Maoists And NC Leaders

September 15, 2011: The meeting between Maoist leaders including Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and NC leaders held yesterday have ended without any meaningful results after the NC leaders demanded to resolve the peace process in a package, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

At the meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, Vice-chairman Vaidya, General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, and NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, PP leader Ram Chandra Poudel among other NC leaders were present. Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai has courted the support of NC leaders for regrouping the Maoist combatants setting the number of combatants to be integrated and a rehabilitation package but the NC leaders have demanded to set the modality, standard and post adjustment before regrouping.

Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai wants the integration process be started before he leaves for New York to participate in the UN General Assembly that will start off on September 19.
