Indian Ambassador meets With Prachanda

April 14, 2010: Indian Ambassador Rakesh Soodh has gone to meet with Former Prime Minister and Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda today at his residence Nayabazar in Kathmandu. Ambassador Soodh has been upset very much due to the termination of the contract for printing machine-readable passports (MRPs) awarded to the Indian government-owned company. Mr. Soodh has met with Prime Minister Madhav Nepal Yesterday and has complained about the annulment of the contract for printing MRPs in India, and about the release of the confidential correspondences between the two governments concerning the printing of MRPs in India.

Ambassador Soodh has told Prachanda at the meeting that the government has annulled the contract for printing MRP in India due to the opposition of the UCPN-Maoist, and requested Prachanda for not indulging in anti-Indian activities according to the private secretary of Prachanda.

Prachanda in turn has said to Ambassador Soodh that his party has not been against India but against all the unequal treaties Nepal has with India according to the secretary of Prachanda.
