June 25, 2011: Nepal police broke into the monastery where a memorial service being held in Kathmandu to honor the Buddhist monk immolated in eastern Tibet in March 2011 to protest the 'Chinese occupation of Tibet,' and arrested several Tibetan exiles on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
The government of Nepal has been stepping up the crackdown on the Tibetan exiles in Nepal under the pressure of the Chinese authorities since 2008. Consequently, number of Tibetan crossing over the Nepal-Tibet border for visiting Dalai Lama living in India in exile since 1959 has been reduced considerably.
Nepal has adopted one-China policy means Tibet and Taiwan are the integral parts of China. So, the government of Nepal has not permitted Tibetans exiles in Nepal even voting in the elections to their government in exile denying the Tibetans their fundamental rights to vote.
