Setting Up Election Monitoring Center In Kathmandu

September 27, 2013: with the assistance of the Election Assistance Project funded by the UNDP, the Election Commission has set up an ‘Election Monitoring Center’ at its central office in Kathmandu to monitor the elections in 240 constituencies, according to the news in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

 

The Election Monitoring Center will operate following the Geographical Information System (GIS) for collecting the information on the voting at 18,482 polling centers of the 1,015 polling areas in 240 constituencies, according to the spokesman for the Election Commission Birbahadur Rai.

 

The Election Commission, the Government of Nepal, and the Security Agency can use the information collected by the ‘Election Monitoring Center’.

 

High officials of the Election Commission, the Ministry of Home, the Nepal Army, the Nepal Police, the Armed Police, and of the Department of National Investigation will be running the Election Monitoring Center.
