Fourth NRN International Convention

The Fourth International Convention of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) is set to hold in Nepal starting on October 13, 2009. The convention will elect office holders of the NRNs including the chairman. They have three candidates for Chairman. However, the incumbent Chairman Dr. Upendra Mahato has said that they are going to elect them unanimously forging consensus on this matter.

Dr. Mahato has said that the NRNs are interested in investing in hydropower, road, education, and health sectors provided the government creates investment friendly environment in Nepal. He has also said that the NRNs want Nepal to be a prosperous country, as it would enhance the NRNs prestige abroad.

Dr. Mahato has disclosed that the NRNs have invested about $300 million in different sectors in Nepal, so far. He has also said that the foreign interference has nothing to do with the current political deadlock, it is the creation of the politicians in the country.
