Kathmandu: After the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nepal, the Election Commission registered a breakaway party of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) as an RPP-Democratic. Previously, the EC had demanded to verify the signatories of the lawmakers that had signed off for a new RPP-Democratic. Pashupati Shumsher appealed the Supreme Court demanding the EC registering his party without delay following the law.
Lawmakers of the RPP-Democratic did not participate in voting down the bill on amendment to constitution, the government had put it to a vote on August 21. They were eighteen altogether. Thus, Pashupati Shumsher had gained five lawmakers, as previously his RPP has only 13 lawmakers, and that of Kamal Thapa had 24. Other lawmakers of Thapa’s RPP voted down the bill.
Kamal Thapa tried to be the boss of a new RPP of the merged two RPPs making the total strength of 37 lawmakers but he ended up losing five lawmakers after the split of the RPP again not even after a year.
