Opposition Show Of Strength Nothing But Traffic Jam

Issue 06, February 10, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 8, 2013: the nine-opposition parties have held a so-called mass rally in Kathmandu to tear down the current government and grab the power. They say that it is the last rally of the first stage protest to topple the government. However, the mass rally has made the heavy traffic jam, and common folks could not reach their workplace on time. This has been blatant human right violation caused by the so-called democratic parties such as NC and CPN-UML.

Leaders of the mass rally say that they have the massive turnout of the people but the participants have been shouting the slogans halfheartedly. Probably, most of the participants are hired cadres brought from the surrounding areas to swell the mass rally.

Such a rally costs about Rs 3 million. NC and CPN-UML could hold such mass rallies until it drained out the money they have accumulated during the time they had been in power. Now, they are out on the streets to release the money they have saved for such rainy days.

The so-called peaceful mass rally would have been really peaceful if they have not caused traffic jam and have not violated others’ rights to move elsewhere for work and business. However, the mass rally has been violent, as it has denied the common folks’ rights to move without obstruction.
