UNMIN Submits Information About Combatants

Issue 41, October 10, 2010

By KTM metro Reporter

October 09, 2010: The United Nations in Nepal (UNMIN) has submitted full names and addresses of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) combatants staying in various cantonments to the government following the UCPN-Maoist’s consent on it at a meeting of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC), nepalnews.com reports quoting the ‘Nagarik daily’.

Officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has been asking the full details of the combatants to expedite the integration of the two armies, and for providing the remuneration to the PLA combatants but the UNMIN has refused to do so saying the UCPN-Maoist has not consented to it.

NC and CPN-UML leaders have charged the UNMIN with being bias toward the UCPN-Maoist not providing the details of the PLA combatants in the past, and even some of them have said that the UNMIN has been entirely favoring the Maoists not doing its duties impartially.
