Nepal Government Terminates License To West Seti Hydro Ltd

Issue 31, July 31, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 28, 2011: the government of Nepal has yesterday terminated the license given fourteen years ago to the West Seti Hydro Ltd for the construction of the West Seti Hydropower Project because of the company doing nothing to build a hydropower plant.

Australian company Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation (SMEC) has promoted the West Seti Hydro Ltd Company in view of building the 750-MW reservoir-based hydropower project. The company has explored the possibility of exporting the power to India and so on but it has never done anything to initiate the project. Consequently, it has remained idle for the last fourteen years.
