Closing Schools Not Meeting Basic Facilities

Issue 07, February 17, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 12, 2013: the state-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ in Nepali today published a list of schools the government is closing down as they don’t meet the minimum requirements the government has set.

It is fine that the government has been concerned with the minimum standard private schools have to maintain but closing the schools the government is sure to punish the school children rather than the school owners. Therefore, the government should help the schools in meeting the minimum requirements rather than closing them.

If the government sticks to its decision on closing the schools and closes them, most of the children will lose the opportunity of going to schools, as most of the parents will not be able to afford their children to send to another schools.
