Issue 34, August 21, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 20, 2011: hearing on the petition filed by advocate Sushilranjan Singh at the Supreme Court of Nepal demanding to annul the decision made by the government on making ‘daura surval’ a Nepali uniform, a special bench of three justices such as Prem Sharma, Gijirshchandra Lal and Dr. Bharatbahadur Karki has ruled ‘daura surval’ a Nepali uniform dismissing the demand made in the petition, ‘Gorkhapatra’ of yesterday writes.

Justice Gijirshchandra Lal has objected to make ‘daura surval’ a Nepali uniform stating Nepalis living in different parts such as Himal, hills and Terai have different dresses, they are all Nepali dresses and should not declare ‘daura surval’ a Nepali uniform but the majority of two other justices overruled his contention.
