Disapproval Of Providing Benefits To VVIPs

July 28, 2012: speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day relay hunger strike leaders of Nepal Civil Society had been on at Shantibatika, Ratna Park since Thursday protesting against the government's decision on providing former elected officials such as President, Vice-president, former Prime Ministers and so on with the benefits of vehicles with fuels and maintenance allowances, house allowances and state-employed officials to work for them, President of NC Sushil Koirala has said that no benefits from state coffers should be given to such personalities if they were active in politics, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.

Society Chairperson and former administrator Khem Raj Regmi said that the Society would launch a nationwide signature campaign against the decision on providing such benefits to former VVIPs for three days.

Speaking at a news conference held by Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) in Kathmandu today to make public the decisions of its three-day central committee meeting that concluded yesterday, Chairman of YAN Mahesh Basnet demanded that the government revoke the decision on providing VVIPs with benefits immediately otherwise YAN affiliated to the CPN-UML warned of launching a campaign against it, writes ‘The Himalayan Times.’
