Policies and Programs Of GON FOR FY 2015

Issue July 2015

July 10, 2015: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav read out the policies and programs of the government of Nepal (GON) to the audience of the members of the parliament on July 8, 2015. GON wrote those polices and the president read it out; that was the annual pre-budget ritual.

Some of the CPN-UML leaders commented on it as the artless and tasteless document even though it was mainly the policies and programs of the CPN-UML than of the NC.

Some lawmakers demanded the amendment to the policies and programs to include Rs 5 million loans to build houses in the urban areas and Rs 2.5 million loans to build houses in the rural area.

Some lawmakers demanded to state provinces instead of the development regions stated in the policies and program document. A preliminary draft of a new constitution has made the provision for the eight provinces.

Other lawmakers stated that the policies and programs did not adequately address the need for the post-quakes reconstruction and rehabilitation.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav rode majestically from his presidential residence in Maharajgunj to the constituent assembly hall at Nayabaneswore causing traffic blockade in that area for two hours causing tremendous inconvenience to the commuter.

Some folks questioned whether the president really needed to cause so much of troubles to the people for his one-hour stay in the constituent assembly; whether he really enjoyed troubling others, as did the former rulers in the past.
