Selling Meat Rather Than Formulating A New Constitution
BY KTM Metro Reporter
August 15, 2011: certainly, it is better to open a butcher’s shop if you cannot complete the writing of a new constitution in the messy parliament. Frustrated by the ever bickering among the political leaders over power rather than engaging in completing the writing of a new constitution, one of the NC lawmakers, Gagan Thapa has opened a butcher’s shop called ‘’H and H Meat Shop" at Golphutar of Mahakal Village Development Committee in Kathmandu on Saturday pledging to provide Kathmanduites with quality and hygienic meat of castrated goats called ‘khasi’ according to the news in ‘The Rising Nepal’ of August 14, 2011.
Certainly, lawmaker Gagan Thapa is moonlighting as a partner of the butcher’s shop. Talking to the reporter of ‘The Rising Nepal’, lawmaker Thapa has disclosed that he has been involved in other agricultural activities, too. Mr. Thapa might use his high-profile office for selling the products of the company he has been involved in.
Surely, if all the 601 members of the parliament engage in one business or another rather than selling their red passports for making quick and easy money, Nepal would be a special country that could be proud of its lawmakers.
