Corruption Case To Be Heard At Regions

Issue 39, September 29, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 24, 2013: After the Commission On Investigation Into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) set up its offices at the regions: one each at the five regions, the government has been making an arrangement for hearing the cases of corruption and abuse of authority at the regions, too, according to the news in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Nepal is divided into five regions: eastern, central, western, mid western, and far western regions. Each region has an Appellate Court. The government is thinking to assign three judges of each Appellate Court to hear the corruption cases to be filed by the CIAA regional offices.

Up until now, the Special Court in Kathmandu has been hearing the corruption cases filed by the CIAA. When the regional courts will be hearing the corruption cases, the caseload at the Special Court in Kathmandu will be reduced considerably.
