Ultimately Ram Chandra Gives In
By KTM Metro Reporter
January 12, 2011: senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba announces at the parliamentary session that his party pulls out the candidacy of Ram Chandra Poudel for a prime minister. He has to do so he is the one that has proposed Ram Chandra Poudel for the candidate for a prime minister in the election to a prime minister. The NC has successfully held the election to a prime minister hostage for continuing the administration of the man rejected by the voters in the two constituents, and put the possibility of the UCPN-Maoist coming to power on hold for six and a half months causing political uncertainty in Nepal. However, the NC calls itself a democratic party. Certainly, it is democracy for a party to use the most useful flaw in the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 to elect the man called Madhav Nepal defeated in two constituents to a Prime minister, and let him rob the people and the nation for almost twenty months. What the democratic norms and values the NC leaders have been following.
The CPN-UML leaders such as Madhav Nepal and KP Oli have attempted to push their party to vote for the NC candidate Poudel but technically they could not do it at the last moment as the Central Committee of the CPN-UML has already decided to vote Poudel out. Apparently, Madhav Nepal has written a last moment letter to the NC leadership requesting for pulling out its candidate from the prime minister race to save the face of the party and the candidate because the CPN-UML legislators are going to vote ‘no’ to Poudel. However, Poudel has set the record of running the race of the prime ministerial election for 16 rounds but could not get elected and ultimately has given up the race. what a political stamina the NC leader has shown in the political arena.
The NC leaders have approached the House Speaker for the postponement of the election to a prime minister to have some time for horse-trading for buying and selling parliamentarians to garner a simple majority for Mr. Poudel but the House Speaker has simply refused to comply with the request of the NC leaders, as the election to a prime minister has been lingering too much; so, either the candidate quit the race or win the election is the answer the House Speaker has given to the NC leaders. Mr. Poudel has opted to quit the race.
Obviously, the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 has been full of flaws that allow the unelected person to be a prime minister. This time too, the shameless legislators might vote for a person not directly elected to the parliament for personal interest and certainly for money. The parliamentary election to a prime minister has been a big business for the parliamentarians.
