Issue 48, November 28, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 25, 2010: a group of lawyers headed by former President of Nepal Bar Association Bishwokanta Mainali has met with chairman of CPN-UML Jahlanath Khanl and his colleagues at his party office Balkhuu on November 24, 2010, and advised him and his colleagues and the government not to call a parliament session as it can reject the recently promulgated budget ordinance but continue the officiating government until April 2011, nepalnews.com writes. In such a way, the so-called Nepalese legal experts have suggested the politicians to do illegal things and go against the norms and values of democracy.

Lawyers, constitutional experts and politicians have been putting forward their various views for and against the validity of the candidacy of Ram Chandra Poudel after the President has abruptly discontinued the parliamentary session on the recommendation of the officiating Prime Minister for making the government to introduce the budget for the fiscal year 2010 (2067) through the presidential order and to prolong the life of Madhav Nepal in the office. Discontinuing the parliament session, the President has dishonored the democratic norms and values and pushed the country to the Presidential rule and a political crisis.
