Collapse Of Runway At Kathmandu Airport

June 25, 2011: recent heavy rains have caused the collapse of certain portion of the international airport in Kathmandu causing the disruption of flights and requiring to divert the incoming flights to Dhaka, Kolkata, Delhi and Patna.
The government of Nepal is setting up a high-level probe team to see what has really happened to the airport because the repair and maintenance have been done only three months ago.
Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Man Bahadur Bishwokarma has visited the airport and inspected the airport after the collapse of the certain portion of more than 3,000-metre (10,000-foot) runway.
