Nepal Tightens Movement Of Tibetans Exiles In Nepal

March 5, 2010: As the March 10 the day of the Tibetan uprising against the Chinese rule in Tibet in 1959 is approaching, the Government of Nepal has tightened the movement of Tibetan exiles in Nepal fearing protest rallies and demonstration at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal. Thus, the Government of Nepal headed by Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has been denying Tibetans the fundamental human rights to stage a peace protest in any country they reside.

News posted on the website www.Phayul.com on March 04, 2010 15:50 has it that the security police have launched a massive manhunt for “troublemakers” in the Tibetan areas of the Kathmandu Valley, and have held several Tibetans on the pretext of not possessing travel documents, and have launched random raids at the Tibetan homes, restaurants and hotels in return for the Chinese authorities providing the Nepalese government with lucrative financial assistance.

Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal met visiting Chinese official Liu Jieyi, Vice Minister of the International Department of Communist Party of China Central Committee, at the his official residence in Kathmandu last month.

In their talks, according to Chinese state media, Liu Jieyi appreciated Nepali government's “consistent and firm support” not to allow “anti-China activities” in Nepal, and in return promised "bilateral cooperation in various fields” to the impoverished and crisis-stricken country.

China has been regularly sending flurry of high-level delegations to Nepal reminding the Nepalese authorities to curb “Free Tibet activities” and anti China activities on its soil.
