March 20, 2013: Speaking at a special event held yesterday at the Police Headquarters in Kathmandu, Home Minister-cum-Minister for Foreign Affairs Madhav Prasad Ghimire directed the chief of the Nepal Police and other senior police officers to ensure law and order and security during the elections to the Constituent Assembly. Home Minister Ghimire directed the police headquarters to be ready for deploying their manpower at the grassroots levels for creating an environment conducive to holding the elections, according to Gorkhapatraonline.com of today.

"Upcoming CA election carried itself high importance and value for the nation, so proper deployment of security personnel can only conduct the election in fair and fearless manners," said the Home Minister.

At the same function, Chief of Nepal Police Kuber Singh Rana said that he has already instructed its officers and junior personnel to ensure necessary security management focusing on the upcoming CA election. At any cost and condition, the security force will be deployed at the grassroots level to ensure optimum level of security during the elections, said IGP Rana.

The second cabinet meeting of the Interim Election Council (IEC) held yesterday decided to announce the date for holding elections to a new Constituent Assembly (CA) only after filling out the vacant positions at the constitutional bodies including the Election Commission. “The government will declare date for new CA elections after filling vacant posts in the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies,” said Information and Communications Minister Madhav Prasad Poudel after the cabinet meeting held in Singha Durbar yesterday afternoon, according to Gorkhapatraonline.com of today.
