Dr Govinda K.C.: Martyr Or Senseless Person

Issue 02, February 9, 2014

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 9, 2014: Dr. Govinda K.C. had yesterday again started off fasting until death if his demands were not meet. Looking at the pictures published in the newspapers, he wore white hair, and he looked quite matured. Such a matured physician and the professor at the prestigious T U Teaching Hospital would not have done such things to create chaos in the teaching as well as in providing medical services to the people. This time he was fasting again demanding the government enforce the agreement the government has reached with him.

Dr K.C. has been successful to get the dean fired from the office for not his faulty but to meet the demand of Dr K.C. He achieved this success making the thousands of professional doctors as trade union workers. The sad story was that the highly professional physicians holding highly ethical jobs had acted as irresponsible as any trade union workers.

Doctors not providing medical services to the patients must have killed some patients and had made complicated their diseases. Who were responsible for such criminal acts: Dr Govinda K.C or his fellow doctors? Both were equally responsible. Who should compensate for the loss of lives of innocent patients? Irresponsible persons like Dr KC and equally irresponsible doctors that had stopped providing the patients with medical services would not surely compensate for the loss of lives and for not having timely medically treatment.

Again the rumors of the doctors following the senseless Dr KC were stopping their medical services in support of the one-man show struggle had terrorized the innocent patients. Some patients waiting for operations, other for complicated diseases to get treated, and patients in general had been looking for alternatives. The rich could go to India, the richer to Thailand and so on but millions of common folks had no alternative but to stay in the country to get medical treatment. This time the unethical medical professionals acting, as trade union workers would be closing even the private hospitals if the rumors were true. Who gave them such rights? Who gave them the rights to violate the fundamental human rights of patients to get treated without delay? Why the government could not take strong actions against such social evils that refused to perform their duties?

Closing the medical services for forcing the TU to act as they wanted, the current generation doctors would destroy not only the TU Teaching Hospital but the nation, too. They had already done considerable damage to the TU, and the medical profession and to the reputation of the doctors. Doctors and medical staffs as a whole would lose the respect from the public.

Following the one-man show of Dr KC, the current generation of doctors and professors had put their professional career at risk. They would not get regular promotion or any other things following the rules and laws. They would need to take fast to get promotion, as the university people would wait until somebody sit for fast demanding promotion or so on.

Dr K.C. should honor the rule of law, and let his followers also learn to respect the rule of law. He should stop fasting, and take the issues that he was not agreeing with the TU to the Supreme Court of Nepal and get settled there. That is the rule of law, DR K.C. You as a matured physician and professor should understand it if you were a fully sensible man. Don’t try to play a childish game. It would be too much soon. Let the almighty enlighten Dr KC.
