Preliminary Feasibility Study On 750MW West Seti Hydropower Project In Nepal

October 30, 2012: CWE Investment Corporation (CWEI): a subsidiary of the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) has completed a preliminary study on the development of the 750MW West Seti Hydropower Project in Nepal. China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) owns the China Yangtze Three Gorges hydropower project located on the Yangtze River.
An 11-member team comprising three Nepalese government officials and eight CWEI professionals had conducted the preliminary study on the technical and financial feasibility of the project, Xinhua news agency quoted Chief Executive of Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) Radhesh Pant as saying, writes nepalnews.com.
The CWEI technical team will assess the engineering, geology, hydrology, project hydraulics and other aspects of the project, and submit the reports and findings to the IBN within months.
The government of Nepal and CWEI signed memorandum of the understanding on implementing the project and the work plan in Beijing in August 2012. The CWEI will have 75% shares of the project and the government of Nepal will have 25%.
After the completion of the project, the company will sell 600MW to Nepal for domestic consumption, and 150MW surplus powers to India.
