Japan Provides Nepal With Vehicles, And Equipment

December 20, 2013: the government of Japan has provided Nepal with vehicles and equipment worth about Rs. 451.8 millions yesterday, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
The government of Japan turned over 53 Nissan Pickup Vehicles, Fire Fighting equipment, Soil Conservation, Restoration and Analysis equipment and GIS and Remote Sensing Software required for the status analysis and conservation management of forests, says the press release issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.
The government of Japan extended grant assistance to the government of Nepal to support the effort of the country on strengthening the forest preservation system in 2010. Since then, the government of Japan has continued consultations with the government of Nepal, it said.
The 53 Nissan Pickup Vehicles are for Forests Offices, National Parks and Soil Conservation Offices working under the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation in some districts to monitor forest and assisti fire fighting, the press release stated.
Similarly, the equipment such as Jumpsuit and Portable water spreader are for fire fighting when forest fires occur. Soil Conservation, Restoration and Analysis equipment are for an investigation into the status of landslide prevention. GIS and Remote Sensing Software are for creating the ecosystem distribution maps based on the observed data.
This support will play a significant role in further strengthening the cordial and friendly relationship between Japan and Nepal, the press release said.
