BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On January 22, 2010, following the request of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML in a statement, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that his party has called off the indefinite Nepal shutdown planned by his party starting on Sunday, January 24, 2010, for protesting the President’s unconstitutional move on directly writing a letter to the then army chief, as the High-Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) has passed its terms of reference for effective working of this mechanism, and has agreed to make the topic of ‘ending the current political deadlock caused by the President’s move’ as a top agenda for debate; however, the campaign of exposing the people and the nation for defending the sovereignty and suzerainty will continue. He has also warned of his party would be forced to launch an intensified protest if the HLPM fails in coming to the consensus politics for ending the current political deadlock, and if the conspiracy of the counter revolutionaries to prevent the promulgation of a new constitution is not stopped.
