Perpetual Peace Lamp To Korean Buddhist Monk

Issue 16, April 21, 2013

By KMT Metro Reporter

April 20, 2013: at an event held at the presidential residence in Kathmandu yesterday, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav turned over the perpetual peace lamp to the South Korean Buddhist monk. At the event, President Yadav said that taking the Perpetual Peace Lamp from Lumbini: birthplace of Lord Buddha to Korea would convey positive message of peace and welfare of the humanity. At the initiative of the Nepal-South Korea Lumbini Peace Lamp Travel Civic Main Celebration Committee, 80 Buddhist monks including the chief monk had come to Nepal, according to ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

The committee had brought the Perpetual Peace Lamp from Lumbini to Kathmandu on Thursday, April 18, 2013. The monks are taking the Perpetual Peace Lamp to Korea. In this year, Korea has made the program on celebrating the Anniversary of Lord Buddha taking the Perpetual Peace Lamp from Lumbini, Nepal to Korea and then torching other lamps there.

Such an international event would convey the correct message of the birthplace of Lord Buddha at the time when some foreign media had been propagating the wrong information on the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
