State Employees Picketing Ministry Of Finance Demanding Pay Rise

July 13, 2013: since last four days, Nepalese state employees have been picketing Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu demanding 10 percent rise in their salaries, and 13 percent dearness allowance.

 

The Minister for Finance is supposed to present the annual budget soon for the next fiscal year starting on July 16. The Minister for Finance has made public the Economic Survey for the current fiscal year. The economic growth has been at minimum this year.

 

The Finance Minister has already made it clear to the state employees that he is not for increasing the salaries at their threat. Political parties have been against increasing the salaries of the state employees, as it will simply fuel the inflation without any productive inputs from the state employees.

 

State employees have been known for taking rent on anything they do. The State employees have been providing Nepalis with services at cost. So, some people even say why the State needs to pay them salaries when they collect rent from the people for providing services.
