Indian Minister Found Possessing Banknotes More Than Allowed

Issue 27, July 04, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 30, 2010: The Nepalese authorities at the International Airport in Kathmandu has found Home Minister of the Indian state of Nagaland, Imkong Imchen, carrying about 900,000 worth of Indian rupees in 500 and 1000 denominations not allowed in Nepal.

The Nepalese authorities have immediately informed the Indian Home Minister about the incident, and then the Indian ambassador visited the airport to see Mr. Imchem. Concerning the question about why the Indian Minister was carrying such banknotes, he has no valid explanations except for his ignorance about the Nepalese law.

The Indian Minister missed the first flight to India and flew in the second flight of the Jet Air to India.
