Holding House Hostage For Ransom Of Trivial Matters

Issue 06, February 05, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 1, 2012: Speaking to the reporters in Biratnagar on January 28, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gacchedar has said that NC and CPN-UML lawmakers have been holding the House hostage for the ransom of trivial issues and assured them of the government not implementing its decisions that provoke controversies, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of January 29, 2012 wrote.

Mr. Gacchedar has charged NC and CPN-UML with not being positive in completing the peace process and the constitution writing, and urged the two parties not to invite a catastrophe in the country not cooperating with the government for completing these two nationally important tasks within the deadline.

“The NC and CPN-UML should either go to the jungle or they should cooperate with the government in drafting the constitution," ‘The Rising Nepal’ quotes Mr. Gacchedar

Leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at a meeting held on January 30 have accused the opposition parties such as NC and CPN-UML of working against federalism forcing their representatives on the State Restructuring Commission to act against federalism, ‘The Himalayan Times’ of January 30, 2012 wrote.

Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi has said that NC and CPN-UML have been acting against federalism and has urged Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for convincing NC and CPN-UML of the need for working for federalism, and for other issues such as legalizing the actions of the people’s government to stop their lawmakers holding the House hostage.

Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said in Butwal that his party is ready to revoke the decision on legalizing the actions of the people’s government if the NC and CPN-UML come up an alternative to such actions so that farmers would have land to till.

One of the UCPN-Maoist leaders CP Gajurel has said that the only good thing the current government has done is the legalization of the actions of the people’s government.

President of NC Sushil Koirala has said that the legalization of the actions of the people’s government is the direct hit on the democracy; the NC cannot accept such things at any cost.
