Nepalese twenty-two Political Parties And UN

Issue 45, November 8, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On November 5, 2009, in the meeting held at Singhadurbar in Kathmandu, the so-called leaders of the twenty-two political parties that have been running the administration have strongly protested the call of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for forming a national government. The UN Secretary General said in his report, “A Government of national unity remains desirable for timely promulgation of the country's new constitution and for the successful integration and rehabilitation of Maoist army personnel.”

Recently, in the meeting with Chairman of Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) Jhalanath Khanal in New Delhi, Indian Home Minister has also said that the Indian Government wants to see the political stability, a national consensus government and timely writing of a new constitution in Nepal.

The international community has been for the consensus politics and the rule of law following the democratic principles and values. However, the so-called leaders of the eighteen political parties including the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML have forced the ceremonial President to abuse the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007, and formed a current majority government leading to the current political deadlock.

The so-called leaders of the currently twenty-two political parties could not digest the correct and logical advice of the UN General Secretary, probably of the Indian Home Minister for forming a national government based on the consensus politics to lead the country to the political stability.

In the meeting, the so-called leaders of the currently twenty-two political parties have also decided to ask the Speaker of the legislature to run the legislature despite the Maoist legislators obstructing the legislature demanding the debate over the President’s unconstitutional action. The Speaker has rejected the Maoist legislators’ demand for debating the President’s unconstitutional action committing another political crime of abusing principles and values of democracy.

The syndicate of the ceremonial President, the Speaker and the leaders of the so-called twenty-two political parties have headed toward killing democracy committing one political crime after another going against the principles and values of democracy in the name of saving democracy.
