Opposition Leaders Protesting Against Elections In Russian
By KTM Metro Reporter
March 5, 2012: if you are not elected then you call the election is not fair is the syndrome of the politicians in the developing world; then you try to remove the elected government by the street movements; is it fair?, not at all.
Given the current election system in Russia, anybody in power would do whatever Vladimir Putin and his supporters have done in the presidential election held on Sunday, March 4, 2012.
The last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has correctly said that Russia needs to change the election system to make voting fair, and restore direct election for governors.
The opposition in Russia needs to fight a legal battle to correct the evils of the election system currently in use instead of indulging in the street protests against the lost election. They certainly can bring a few hundred thousands of people to the streets but they would not be able to change the election already has gone to in favor of Putin.
In addition, before the presidential election was held, people in Russia knew that Putin would certainly win the election because of the support of some Russians he has, and because of the state power he wields. So, why the opposition indulges in opposing the election that they know beforehand Putin is going to win the election. It is a broken strategy of the opposition leaders to tear down the Putin Empire.
The opposition leaders need to seriously work together to take Russia to a real democratic country fighting for the rule of law rather than fighting for power. Russian people would not live in the democratic system of governance if the current political system persists, as no matter who comes to power would do exactly whatever Putin has done and would do in the coming years. Change the strategy to make Russia a democratic country.
Russia has the hangover of the Soviet system of dictatorship. It would not go overnight. It will take some time to go. So, Russians need to diligently work for enforcing laws that will curb the corruption in the politics, society and the economy of the country.
Russia has many syndromes of developing countries. The practice of corruption by the state employees including the law enforcement people is the most disgusting one. The opposition needs to engage in eradicating such a corruption practice in Russia.
