Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin In Beijing

Issue 42, October 16, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 11, 2011: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has landed in Beijing today. The two-day visit might be politically and economically significant for Putin that has been eying for the office of president. Mr. Putin has taken with him 160 businesspersons including the CEOs of many important and large companies.

Chinese authorities have been for the Russian natural gas if they can get it at the price they think is viable for them to import in a long-term basis. Russia has lost its monopoly on arms and fuels, as China has diversified its trade with the Middle East, other Asian and Latin American companies. However, both Russia and China are willing to increase their bilateral trade.

If Putin can sign off major trade agreements with the Chinese authorities then he would be able to boast it in the campaign for the presidential election even though he might be able to win the presidential election without it.
