Opening of International Convention of Non-Resident Nepalis

Issue 42, October 18, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 13, 2009, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav opened the three-day Fourth International Convention of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) lighting a traditional Nepalese lamp in Kathmandu. Speaking at the function, the President has said that Nepal is the land of dhotivala means people wearing dhoti in other word Madheshi, topivala means people wearing topis means hill people and bakhuvala means people wearing bakhu in other word mountain people; let all become first Nepalis and then only mountain people, hill people and Madheshi people; he would not let break up the country as long as he remains the president according to the report of the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of October 14, 2009.

The president also has said that let us attempt on churning up the legislature and bringing out elixir digestible to all not the venom. Some political analysts interpret this statement that it is the indication of the president willing to discuss the issue of his unconstitutional move on directly writing a letter to the Chief of Army Staff in the legislature. His unconstitutional move has been actually venom to all sincere democratic minded people and elixir to all-power-hungry crooked politicians.

The President is dhotivala and the suspended Vice-president is also dhotivala. However, most of the dhotivala leaders complain that they have been deprived of equal rights to administration, police and military. The fact is not only they are but also all Nepalis except for those running the state administration are deprived of these things.
