Nepal Not A Yam But A Strong Bridge

Issue 32, August 07, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 2, 2011: speaking at the inaugural function of the three-day diplomatic idea-swapping workshop held by the World Cultural Net on the occasion of 56th anniversary of the Nepal-China diplomatic relation in Kathmandu yesterday, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal said, “now, Nepal is no more a yam between two stones. Nepal is a strong bridge between the two emerging world economies: China and India. It will not only work as a bridge to the two countries but also it could promote its national economy,” ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

The prime minister has reiterated the Nepal’s one-China policy means Tibet and Taiwan are the integral parts of the Mainland China. This will certainly disappoint the Tibetans fighting for freeing Tibet from the Chinese rule. Chinese military had overrun Tibet in 1949 and have been forcibly ruling it since then.
