A Minor Mutiny In Nepal

April 5, 2011: protesting against the death of their colleague, some army personnel took the barrack under the control for a while and manhandled Major Arun Bahadur Singh and Pawan Barakoti in the Athunge army barrack of the Indrabaksha Battalion a week ago, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today reports. Major Singh has forced Ram Bahadur Chaudhary just returned from the treatment of heart ailment from Kathmandu to attend the parade even though he has complained about his chest pain, and ultimately caused his death on the way to Myagdi District Hospital that has certified Chaudhary has died due to the heart failure.
Following the death of Chaudhary, all the army personnel working at the barrack have protested against the army chanting slogans against major Singh and other army officers of the barrack on March 28, 2011.
Currently, 35 army personnel involved in the rebellion are in custody at the Company Office in Baglung. A probe committee headed by Division Commander Nara Bahadur Kandel and Chief of No. 23 Company Taaj Man Singh Basnet has holding an inquiry into the incident. At the Western Division, Pokhara, Division Chief Kandel has been interrogating Major Singh about the health condition of deceased Chaudhary before the death.
