Return of Thaksin Sinawatra
By KTM Reporter in Kathmandu
Former Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Sinawatra returned to home ending his 17-month exile. He has been in exile since the Thai Army with the support of the king staged a bloodless coup in September 2006. Under the international pressure, the junta held a parliamentary election in December 2007 in which Sinawatra’s party won majority seats but not enough seats for forming an independent government.
The junta government had filed a case in the law court against him charging with the abuse of power. So, the security took him to the law court that immediately released him on bail and on condition of not leaving the country.
Replying to the question of the reporters, Sinawatra repeated his decision on leaving the politics but working for the country.
