Issue 28, July 11, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 6, 2010: the state-run company called Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the prices of petroleum products following the price rise in India. The new price of petrol is Rs 85 per liter increased by Rs 3 and that of diesel and kerosene is Rs 65.50 per liter of each increased by Rs 2.50.

Prices of petroleum, diesel and kerosene were Rs. 82.00, Rs 63.00 and Rs 63.00 per liter.

Minister for Supply And Commerce Rajendra Mahato has said that the government needed to increase the prices of petroleum products to offset the losses NOC has made. The NOC has made a loss of Rs 200 million during the last three months. However, the minister of the Madhav government has failed in stating that the losses are entirely due to the mismanagement and corruption at the NOC.
