Home Minister Bhim Rawal Under Fire

Issue 11, March 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 7, 2010: in the central committee meeting held in Kathmandu, members of the central committee have sharply criticized Home Minister Bhim Rawal for not being able to maintain law and order across the country, and have demanded his resignation immediately. They have pointed at Home Minister Rawal failing in arresting the murders of media people such as Arun Shinghaniya in Janakpur and Jamin Shah in Kathmandu. They have also said that the policemen have been involved in the murder of the media persons.

The central committee members also have accused Home Minister Rawal of transferring and reposting policeman from one duty station to another following the monetary benefits he could gain from such things.

Speaking at an interaction program in Kathmandu on March 6, 2010, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mohammad Rizwan Ansari said that Home Minister Bhim Rawal has been totally incompetent of combating criminal activities rather increasing across the country. He has been responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation and should resign on the moral ground for failing in discharging his duties as a Home Minister.

Mr. Ansari has also said that he has no idea of what decisions the Home Minister makes; he knows the decisions from the press and other media reports. He has said that he has complained about it to the Prime Minister and the party leader but nothing has happened so far, if he would not receive any authority to function as the State Minister for Home Affairs within fifteen days, he would quit his office.
