Nepali Congress Engaged In Undemocratic Activities

Issue 22, May 29, 2011

BY KTM Metro Reporter

May 24, 2011: Nepali Congress lawmakers have disrupted the parliamentary session again yesterday stopping the regular business of the parliament. They have said that they have stopped the regular business of the parliament for completing the peace process and the writing of a new constitution but their motive for stopping the session of the parliament is clearly for stopping the extension of the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) by two-thirds majority consequently killing the peace process and the promulgation of a new constitution. The irony is that the so-called Democratic Party lawmakers have engaged in such undemocratic activities.

Some political analysts say that preventing the regular business of the CA is suicidal to the Nepali Congress party and other small political parties that have supported the actions of the Nepali Congress lawmakers, as the existence of the small political parties will be in question and the Nepali Congress lawmakers would need to be on the streets after the dissolution of the CA.
